She has received commissions and collaborated with the <strong>Oslo Sinfonietta, <\/strong><strong>Phace Ensemble, <\/strong><strong>Ensemble Contempor\u00e1neo de la Orquesta de Cadaqu\u00e9s, <\/strong><strong>Joven Orquesta Nacional de Espa\u00f1a, (JONDE), <\/strong><strong>Orquesta Sinf\u00f3nica de Madrid,<\/strong><strong> Orquesta Camera Musicae, Experimental Funktion, CrossingLines Ensemble,<\/strong><strong> Ensemble Sonido Extremo, <\/strong><strong>Cosmos Quartet,<\/strong> <strong>Barcelona Clarinet Players, <\/strong><strong>Barcelona Reed Quintet, BCN216 <\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0PluralEnsemble<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Within the framework of opera creation, she has taken part in\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.obnc.cat\/en\/production\/dido-reloaded-go-aeneas-go-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>DIDO Reloaded<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(2013), together with Xavier Bonfill, Raquel Garc\u00eda-Tom\u00e1s, Joan Magran\u00e9 and Octavi Rumbau, produced by \u00d2pera de Butxaca i Nova Creaci\u00f3 Barcelona and, thanks to the opera<strong>\u00a0<em>Go, \u00c6NEAS, go!<\/em><\/strong> has been awarded the Neuk\u00f6llner Oper&#8217;s <strong>Berliner Opernpreis&#8217;14.<\/strong> In 2015, she premiered her chamber opera\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.obnc.cat\/en\/production\/displace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>disPLACE \u2013 Hist\u00f2ria d&#8217;una casa<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, text by <strong>Helena Tornero<\/strong> and stage direction by <strong>Peter Pawlik<\/strong>, at the MusikTheaterTage Wien Festival, with further performances in Teatros del Canal within the season 2016\/17 of the Teatro Real in Madrid. Within the season 2017\/18, she premiered the monodrama <em><strong>Ballena azul, <\/strong><\/em>text by <strong>Victoria Szpunberg,<\/strong>\u00a0for one actress, large orchestra, choir and electronics, at the National Theatre of Catalonia, TNC, under the stage direction of <strong>Xavier Albert\u00ed<\/strong> and musical direction of <strong>Edmon Colomer<\/strong>. In 2019, she premiered the opera buffa<a href=\"https:\/\/www.obnc.cat\/en\/production\/je-suis-narcissiste\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong><em>Je suis narcissiste<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>(I am narcissistic) libretto by <strong>Helena Tornero<\/strong> and stage direction by <strong>Marta Pazos<\/strong>, within the seasons of the Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Espa\u00f1ol, and the Teatre Lliure de Barcelona. The <strong>International Opera Awards 2020 <\/strong>nominated Raquel&#8217;s opera\u00a0<em>Je suis narcissiste<\/em>\u00a0for Best World Premiere and has been awarded with an <strong>Alicia Award from the Catalan Music Academy<\/strong> in the <em>Interdisciplinary<\/em> category.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2022, the Barcelona and Catalonia National Symphony Orchestra, OBC, premieres its symphonic-choral work <a href=\"https:\/\/editorialmondigromax.com\/en\/product\/suite-of-myself-sinfonico-coral-raquel-garcia-tomas\/\"><strong><em>Suite of Myself<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. A commission from L&#8217;Auditori (Barcelona) that should start from Bach&#8217;s music (specifically, the <em>St John Passion<\/em>, the invention BWV797 and the zarabande of the <em>French Suite No 2<\/em>). Raquel composed it with fragments of the luminous, solemn and liberating text <em>Song of Myself<\/em>, by <strong>Walt Whitman<\/strong>. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/editorialmondigromax.com\/en\/product\/suite-of-myself-chamber-version-raquel-garcia-tomas\/\">chamber version of <em>Suite of Myself<\/em><\/a><\/strong> premiered in the Carme cloister of the <strong>Castell de Peralada Festiva<\/strong>l in July 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2022\/23 season, Raquel premiered <a href=\"https:\/\/editorialmondigromax.com\/en\/product\/alexina-b-raquel-garcia-tomas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Alexina B.<\/em><\/strong><\/a> at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. This opera, created in collaboration with librettist <strong>Ir\u00e8ne Gayraud<\/strong> and stage director <strong>Marta Pazos<\/strong>, was recognized with the <strong>Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation<\/strong> and received a nomination for Best World Premiere at the <strong>International Opera Awards 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among her most notable recent projects are <strong><em>Las constelaciones que m\u00e1s brillan<\/em><\/strong>, premiered at L\u2019Auditori de Barcelona with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ludovic Morlot and followed by performances at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Konserthuset in Stockholm; the string quartet <strong><em>\u00e0 plein<\/em><\/strong>, premiered by the Cuarteto Quiroga at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana, and <strong><em>Ara s\u00ed que ets divina<\/em><\/strong>, premiered with the OBC, under the direction of Ludovic Morlot, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of L\u2019Auditori de Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2024-25 season, Raquel is the composer-in-residence at the Real Filharmon\u00eda de Galicia. This includes the world premiere of <strong><em>Ceci n\u2019est pas un valse<\/em><\/strong>, conducted by Baldur Br\u00f6nnimann, along with performances of other works from her orchestral catalogue.
