The opera-monologue Hort/Garden, produced by Òpera de Butxaca i Nova Creació (ÒBNC) in co-production with the Peralada Festival, premiered at the Sala Mirador of the Castell de Peralada on July 16. TVE recorded the premiere, which will be broadcast on Friday, August 15 at 5:20 p.m. on La 2, and will also be available on RTVE Play Catalunya. Approximate duration: 65 minutes. Original language: Catalan (with Spanish subtitles).
Based on an idea by actress, singer, and composer Elena Tarrats, inspired by the death of her grandfather coinciding with the birth of her son, this musical poem in four seasons features a libretto by Helena Tornero. Co-composer Mario G. Cortizo and sound designer Damien Bazin bring to life the Icarus Ensemble, six musicians from Italy: Laura Faoro (flute), Michele Fontana (clarinet), Maria Gilda Gianolio (harp), Francesco Pedrazzini (percussion), Yoko Morimyo (violin), and Adán Alejandro Gómez (cello).
A production directed by Silvia Costa, who also designed the costumes and conceived the stage space: a natural grass field with aromatic plants, built by Davis Hart, with cinematic lighting by Andrea Sanson.
