The Real Filharmonía de Galicia has announced its 2024/25 season titled “Inconformistas,” featuring Raquel García-Tomás as composer in residence. The season will include performances of two of her most recent symphonic works, “Las constelaciones que más brillan” and “Blind Contours no. 2“, as well as the world premiere of “Ceci n’est pas une valse” (co-commissioned with the Palau de la Música Catalana, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, and Fundación la Pedrera).
In the Philharmonia’s program, the following stands out: “The artist in residence Raquel García-Tomás conceives her music as a communicative flow with video creation and visual arts. In Blind Contours No. 2, she translates this concept of illustration to the score, which allows drawing the profile of an object without looking at the paper; thus, the performers’ freedom defines the character of this piece.”
Under the principal direction of Baldur Brönnimann for another year, the Filharmonía de Galicia will continue to be a leader in programming works written by women, as well as in the performance of contemporary or newly created scores.
